Why Benchmark?
Compare benchmarking allows you to compare you hospital's performance on key efficiency metrics to a national group of similar hospitals. This extends beyond a single, high level comparison, and provides detailed comparisons. These detailed comparisons allow you to reap the key benefits of benchmarking:
- Assess overall performance and tracking - Comparing your hospital to a group of your peers allow assessment of how well staff are tracking adverse events
- Identify best performance improvement opportunities - Those areas, such as delay or readmissions reasons, where your hospital benchmarks unfavorably often indicate areas of opportunity for performance improvement. This information allows you to focus limited performance improvement resources where they will be most effective
- Data support - Initiating performance improvement usually requires valid data support to gain the buy-in of others in the organization. Benchmarking reports provide a solid level of data support.
- Best practice education - Aggregating data from many hospitals and system allows ACMA to identify the most challenging areas, and those who are the best performers in each area. ACMA hosts subscriber educational webinars to present these successful practices.
